Alas and Did My Saviour Bleed?
This Sunday at the 9:30 service we'll be singing a contemporary rewrite of the hymn Alas and Did My Savior Bleed. The words for the song were written all the way back in 1707 by Isaac Watts, an incredibly prolific song writer (he published more than 500 songs). This hymn is a wonderful reflection on the audacity of Jesus, Son of God and maker of all, sacrificing his life for us despite our brokenness, rebellion, and sin. It closes with the realization that all we can do in response to the debt we owe him is give our lives away in service of him. Be sure to listen to the song before Sunday so you can sing along!
