At our last family event my wife, Katelyn, and I took turns playing with our nephew, Micah. He’s just over a year old but he already looks like a toddler who spends too much time at the gym. One of his favorite things is when someone will chase him around saying, “I’m gonna get you!”
I love being able to chase him and eventually catch him. He always squeals with glee and giggles. As I pick him up I give him a few kisses on the cheek and then the chase begins again.
Our desire to chase God should be similar. We should love chasing after God. We should love his embrace. We should love pursuing him and sharing in his joy.
Sometimes we get lazy and put all of the chasing on God’s side. We do little to nothing to seek God and then become upset at his apparent absence. The reality is that God is always with us, but sometimes we don’t sense it unless we do the hard work of looking for him.
Don’t give up on the chase. Keep seeking after God with everything in you. God is a lot closer than we think, we just need to do the hard work of seeking his face.
